Top 5 Applications of the Exciplex® Treatment

Exciplex® is a safe, effective, and painless treatment for many dermatological indications. It can treat the most common autoimmune skin disorders such as vitiligo, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata, and mycosis fungoides.

Patients diagnosed with these conditions have to deal with a flawed immune system for most of their lives. In fact, autoimmune skin disorders mistakenly attack healthy cells and tissues. As a result, it can lead to inflammation, dryness, lack of pigmentation, and even hair loss.

With more than 200 clinically proven studies, Exciplex® shows the best results for treating autoimmune skin disorders using a 308nm monochromatic excimer light. Exciplex® uses a special kind of light known as ultraviolet B or UV-B.

Exciplex® can help with the patient’s stress by reducing the pain, itch, and redness of the skin. It can also restore skin pigmentation and stimulate the healthy regrowth of hair on any part of the body.

Check out the top 5 autoimmune disorders that Exciplex® can treat. You can learn more about the prime applications of the Exciplex® treatment below.

1. Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a non-threatening skin condition that forms white patches on a certain area or it can also span all over the body. It occurs when a part of the immune system starts to attack and kill the pigment cells called melanocytes, which are responsible for giving color to the skin.

Although vitiligo is not painful or contagious, it may leave a long-lasting impact on a person’s self-confidence and self-esteem. Exciplex® helps the skin to produce more melanocytes by exposing the skin to a narrowband UVB. Exciplex® has already improved the lives of thousands of vitiligo patients.

Exciplex® helps vitiligo patients to look and feel their best with a more even skin tone.

2. Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disorder that may appear as patches of red or silvery scales on the elbows, knees, scalp, lower back, and other areas of the body. Psoriasis occurs when the immune system becomes overactive, speeding up the growth of skin cells and leading to dead skin cells piling up on the skin’s surface.

It may lead to mild to severe flaking, dryness, and inflammation of the affected area. Many patients also report an uncontrollable itchy sensation. Exciplex® treatments reduce psoriasis patients’ stress by slowing down skin cell production using UV-B light.

3. Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis, or eczema, is another chronic autoimmune disorder that appears dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. Even if atopic dermatitis poses some similarities with psoriasis, what makes them different is that atopic dermatitis patients have thicker and/or more inflamed skin.

This condition is caused by many different factors such as genetics, and environmental triggers. Atopic dermatitis is more common in children but may also affect adults. Exciplex® can deliver greater UV-B intensity needed to clear rougher patches, but it does not damage surrounding skin.

4. Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is a very common autoimmune disorder. It looks like patchy baldness on the scalp, lashes, eyebrows, armpits, and inside the nose, or ears. Alopecia happens when the immune system attacks hair follicles on any part of the body which causes the hair to fall out.

It can even lead to severe hair loss or complete baldness in some cases. Although this condition does not pose a serious threat to one’s physical health, alopecia can take a heavy toll on one’s mental health. Exciplex® helps patients by suppressing the T-Cells, a type of white blood cell, that is considered the main cause of alopecia.

5. Mycosis Fungoides

Mycosis Fungoides is a severe and life-threatening skin condition that can worsen over time. During the earlier stages, mycosis fungoides can look like red patches of rashes (similar to atopic dermatitis). It can later develop into small, raised bumps (papules) or hardened lesions on the skin.

Tumors may also form in the affected areas and may develop ulcers in the skin during the last stage. Mycosis fungoides can also be cancerous and very painful to deal with. With medical studies conducted, Exciplex® has been proven to show significant improvement in the treatment of the earlier phases of mycosis fungoides from stages IA to IIA.Exciplex® works to help the skin heal as well as soothe the symptoms of mycosis fungoides.
